Plainfield village trustees open to proposed industrial development on far west side

Plainfield village trustees are receptive to a proposal to construct a two-building light industrial development on approximately 138 acres east of Ridge Road and north of 143d Street.The project would expand on DHL Supply Chain’s initial project, a 1.2 million-square-foot building known as the Plainfield Logistics Centre that is located at the southeast corner of Ridge Road and 143d Street. DHL, which bills itself as the world’s leading logistics provider, operates approximately 1,400 facilities in more than 50 countries.Village trustees discussed the proposed development during an Oct. 26 Committee of the Whole workshop.The two-building development would be approximately two million square feet in size, Plainfield Planning Director Jonathan Proulx said. Village trustees in May reviewed a concept plan for the development. As part of a proposed development agreement, DHL Supply Chain would give the village $2.9 million.“That’s a mix of payments to the village and credits for improvemen
